Work Placement: 3 months

It was mentioned this year that we have the opportunity to take on a placement from March to April. I was very happy about this not because I will not have to come in to University ahha, but because it's better to get has much experience as possible. Our careers advice emphasised this as she said the fact that we are University is the best time for this because employers are more willing to help you grow and allow you to make mistakes; compared to you being a graduate their expectation are higher. Also you will be in competition with people that have years of experience.

Where do I want to head of to

Originally I want to get out of this country and do all my work placements abroad, realistically that will be a lot of money. Also the fact that I have already paid rent for my house in Coventry for the year, I don't want the money to go to waste. So I have decided to go local and aim my research to companies with in Birmingham. Birmingham being the 2nd largest city after London there is a lot of businesses situated there. Also I want a Birmingham accent lool.

Most of my researched has been focused on international business such as Apple, Sony, Microsoft and so on. I need to see if they have headquarters or internships in Birmingham also look at other companies that of placements; preferably technology companies.

Framework

After meeting the clients we decide to come up with ideas to how the pages would be laid out. The trend right now is flat design, consisting of solid colours and minimalism. I went with flat design because it suits our audience seeing as we want the app to be simple. These were my ideas, using san serif font to giving it a young feel, as well as having a lot of white space. Located at the bottom is a progress bar, so the user knows what step they are in the app. We then put our ideas together and came up with an official layout, to which I added colour and images.
