Placement Year: Study Abroad

I am happy to say that I successfully secured a study abroad placement as California State University Marcos. I have always wanted to study in the United States since I was in primary school, also I have always wanted to live there. I remember my aunty telling me that if you want to live abroad it's better to work there for at least 6 months, so you know what it is like to truly live there and not as a tourist. That's why I was so determined to get a study placement, as well as network internationally and learning design from a different perspective.

August - September

I arrived in San Marcos in August 26th, I was excited and not nervous because I was ready to embrace this new journey. I was in love with my dorm, The Quad, seeing as it has a swimming pool, pool room, terrance, and 2 study rooms. The staff who are students put on a lot of free events to help us meet new people and get free food. I love how they put I needs first and that our money spent on rent was actually being used to our benefit.

One of the biggest difference in terms of culture is how friendly they are here in California compared to people I have met in London and Coventry. The new people I meet offered to take me showing to help buy essential things such as pillows, for my room. This helped me to get to know the area and where to find things I needed.
